sunday stills - barns

This week's Sunday Stills challenge was barns. This was a fun challenge...it sent Sophie and I exploring down dusty roads in the country one evening and we always enjoy a good road trip. I did get some funny looks as other drivers slowed down to see what had compelled me to pull over on the side of the road with camera in hand.

This also felt a bit like a covert operation as I attempted to capture these wonderful old barns that belonged to someone else....to another time in some cases. I had a sense that I was stealing a tiny piece of something from the owner....and from the barn.

Good morning Andrea and Sophie, I joined Sudnay Stills for the first time this week! I was excited to see Barns, I just love them and taking pictures of them. I love the combination of wood and rock on yours, beautiful!

Love the bright color. I saw so many barns I wanted to tromp around in, but was afraid of getting shot!! :)

Nice shots you never disappoint.

I love the barn with the stone bottom. I love taking barn pics too. And I feel the same way when I am taking pictures. People look at you wondering what you are up to. I always expect someone to stop me and ask why I am there.

the stonework on these old barns is incredible. Can you imagine if they did not put up the foundation straight?

Beautiful! There's something so nostalgic about the barns. We actually have one at the end of our street, and I never tire of passing it in my travels.

These are really interesting buildings. If I was going to have a new barn erected on my farm it would definitely have to be red. The biggest one we have is black and it's rather ugly looking!

You did an awesome job! Both pictures are fantastic, but I really love that first one. You can see the dust in the air. Nice!

Rustic and beautiful! Nothing beats the texture aging gives to wood.

as for the texture aging gives to me, thankfully your not around to photograph that!

What a great barn with the old stonework. Makes me want to convert it into a home and live there.

Funny, I feel the same way whenever I've photographed barns. Maybe its because they seem to have a soul and character that goes beyond the temporal.

Looks like you & Sophie had a great day.

Beautiful barn photos! The colors are so rich and saturated, as if they were just painted. So pretty!

Nice vivid sky in that top photo, too.

You captured the color well, nice details. I expected to see your dog in at least one of the shots. Bailey went with me.

You got some great shots sneaking around like that......nobody probably would have minded, they would have been happy with you preserving their history.

Excellent photos! I took Chance with too, he loved all the smells in that haymow and running around with his friend Hooch! The neighbors are used to my "weirdness" and since they all know me so well..we are welcomed to take lots of photos. In fact I think some of them feel quite honored! :)

Wow, what cool pictures of barns. My mom feels the same way about taking pictures of the house she used to live in when she was growing up in Miami. But she does it every once in a while and no one's stopped her yet.
