sunday stills - motion

This week's Sunday Stills challenge was motion. Now, I know everyone will be expecting a few Sophie photos for this category, but I've used a lot of motion shots of Sophie on this blog already, so I opted for something a little different....something from my archives that has stuck with me.

These were chickadees that we found during a hike back in January. I'm not sure if they are good photos (technically speaking)....but I ended up loving the effect of their blurred wings....

...their tiny, soft feathers stretched wide to lift them up and soar.

And one token Sophie pic for all of her fans... :)

The rules in photography are always there to be broken, and whether your chickadee shots are technically correct or not, well, I think they are wonderful! :)

Love it. And my rules are if I like the shot then it's perfect!

Who cares if they are technically perfect if people like them, especially you? Glad you stuck a Sophie picture in there too.

I think in photography we often make our own rules, with our vision deciding what works for the subject. The first shot is great, balance, symmetry, while at the same time seeming to "break a rule" somehow, which gives it even more interest.

Great motion capture pictures! Birds are such a useful subject for motion capture as they always seem to be flitting about from one place to another.

I love the first photo - the difference between the still bird, and the wing motion of the other one makes it interesting.

Nice timing. One moving and the other still.

Nothing in life needs to be "technically perfect".
Perfection to me is when something moves us, makes us catch our breath and makes our heart stop for that tiny little second.
To me, these ARE perfect in every way.
I especially love the one with your hand... :-)

Not much of a photography expert here, but we LOVED those bird pics, the effect of the wings is awesome. And of course, we are so happy to see at least one of sweet Sophie.

Wow, those are great pictures. I think that your pictures are getting better and better. Don't you? I wish I had a little more time to devote to photography. I just love it and have started looking at a lot of different photo blogs. They just inspire me so much, It's like I'm craving it.

Hey thanks for missing me just a little bit. I got things fixed and I'm back on line, whoo hoo!
